International day against homophobia!

But of course this day was put on the 17th of May. And 17th of may means Norway (gratulerer med dagen Norge), at least to all of us in Scandinavia. I will acknowledge this day and speak about homophobia too though.

Im lucky to be born in Sweden, unlike many countries out there its no longer illegal to be gay here. Sweden will not punish a person with death just because theyre gay. But in some countries, that is still the case.

Ive been lucky enough not to meet that much homophobia compared to a lot of others. Sure, i have heard comments made about us gays. But strangely enough, people tend to have changed their minds when theyve understood i am one of those silly homos out there. So by just being me and being there, i can open peoples minds. I can make them forget their homophobia. That power we have by just being out is amazing.

You dont choose to be gay, but you choose to be homophobic. Choose different. :)

Show support, wave your rainbow flag! I sure will :)

My cackling ladies are productive

Didnt take them long to fill a carton. Like the fact that their eggs are different from eachothers.

Cleaned and disinfected the hen house and everything in it yesterday, put the hens outside after treating them for the mites again. Lots of work, but i dont want the treatment on them to be all for nothing because im too lazy to clean :)

Almost finished the pen outside for them now, going to fasten the net with proper stuff just and put a net as a roof and then its done. They absolutely love all the space theyve got now, quite big for just 4 birds :P

Babysitting

I was babysitting my nephews saturday night. First time i put them both to sleep by myself actuallly, last time i babysat them alone Simon was still awake by the time my sister came home :P

It went really well, proud of myself and i feel much closer to the kids. My heart melted when i felt Davids hand holding my arm while he was sleeping, CUTE! The only downer was that Simon got ill, he had a little bit of fever in the evening and he got worse during the night. Even worse during the sunday... turned out he has Scarlet fever (scharlakansfeber) :/ Poor kid. He was aching all night, woke up lots from his coughs and from him shouting he was sore when David was kicking him in his sleep.

David is horrible when he sleeps though, he spins around like a propeller. Early in the morning i felt both his heels digging into my chest and stomach. Lucky for him his cuteness makes me forgive him for everything.

David with a bunch of rhubarbs he got when he and Sylvia drove me home :)

This is a preview of how it will be the day i have children myself... i will write nothing but boring details about them and their lives that no one but me cares about. :)

Inappropriate plant

Found this tulip out in the garden. It doesnt quite look like a plant to me though.

Dirty.

Out for a walk

Lisa, Boss and i went for a long, fast walk today. Felt awesome.

Unhealthy weekend

While i was in Manchester last week i actually ate pretty well. Stayed away from sweets and all, managed to get rid of my cravings for sugar. Though now since ive been home that has changes, i have eaten way too much crap and especially now during this weekend. Working so im spending it at Lisas, she is bad influence sometimes even though she is far healthier than me in general -.-

Luxury Shake with chocolate flavour from Max. Its pure evil, its that good.

Thai wok with quorn, peppers and snap peas. This wasnt unhealthy itself, thing is i ate like 10kg of it in one sitting..

It was delicious though. Oh well, ill be going home tomorrow afternoon so then i will put more effort into living healthier. Its SOOOO awesome not feeling cravings all the time and i dont want that to change.

Also taking the opportunity to cuddle my favourite dog as much as i can while im at Lisas.

Paw flirting.

Introducing the flock

Here you have them. They calm down more and more, i dont think it will be long until i can get close to them without them minding much. Hopefully i will get some nice close ups of them then. Plan to tell you more about their personalities as i get to know them better.

Rooster - Vidar

Grey - Jorun

Black - Siri

Red - Freja

Theyve had a pretty rough day, Vidar got a soapy foot bath and we put cream on everyones feet to treat the mites. Poor things.

Concerns about my poultry friends.

Tuesday morning my mother and me bought 3 hens and a rooster, we already gave them names and all but i dont want to terrorise them too much yet so i dont have any pictures (will fix that soon though). They were quite stressed out the whole first day and they still dont enjoy human company even though the hens now walk around their little temporary pen and eat while the rooster keep an eye on me for them when im there.

However, things arent as lovely and great now as i would have wished.

I would have needed to do more reading before we went to get them. You see, the woman we bought them from mentioned as she picked the rooster up that he had quite ugly feet. And she said that happened when they got old and its not a big deal (the hens will be 1 this summer but the rooster is older). This made me suspicious and i didnt believe that was entirely correct, turned out i was right about that. Got home with the feathery friends and read up, turns out that he has scaly leg mites (alltså benskabb/kalkben eller vad man ni föredrar att kalla det). A parasite lives in the skin of his legs, this gets worse with age though since the parasites take their time to dig their tunnels under there.

I can treat him, i can possibly get him somewhat healthy. I just dont know how well he will ever be, he already lost half a toe on each foot because of this and even though he doesnt seem to have trouble walking or anything im worried he can feel more than it shows. It will get worse and worse without treatment.

Mother left me a note in the morning here that she thought we should look for a new rooster, sad. I dont want to just give up on Vidar.

I will see if i might give him a round in a little while here anyway, then i have at least done something. I should probably have a look at the ladies too since they have been around all this.

I suppose that i at least learned something from this. Do more reading before buying.

Parents

Im just sitting on the train home from Gothenburg, i just arrived to Sweden. Missing my lady now.

Passing time by reading a lot of random blogs, and it makes me think about how many people who have children around here, really shouldnt have any.

Like for example, during pregnancy: How hard can it be to NOT do things you KNOW are bad for the baby while expecting? Dont drink, dont smoke, dont eat things that can harm the baby (you can simply google a list about what foods are bad or that could possibly be bad), dont dye your hair, think about what products you use on your skin since it will eventually reach the child.. ETC ETC. And really its all common sense, isnt it?

I dont think there are many parents/parents-to-be that want to harm their child or risk doing so, but they are simply ignorant, careless and lazy.

There should be an obligatory course for all becoming parents to teach them all these things, and throw in some necessary info about how to care for infants once they are born too.

Yeah, obviously im a genius when it comes to kids and pregnancy duh..

Manchester is ahead of Skövde when it comes to Spring

Lots of trees have got big leaves already and the fruit trees are blooming.

Its gorgeous here at the moment, if it wasnt for the rain. :)

4 years<3

Yepp, its Rebeccas and mine 4 year anniversary today :)

We celebrated with dinner out, went to Don Giovannis once again. Partly because we couldnt be bothered looking up other restaurants but mostly because their food is delicious!

This just said "egg ravioli" on the menu.. which only referred to the pasta itself..

but really its ravioli with ricotta and spinach, in butter with sage :)

Nom nom!

Stupid blog.

Ive been trying to upload some pictures of the hen house project, but for some reason it doesnt want to work at the moment! I will keep trying though so hopefully ill be able to show you how far weve come with it soon! :)

In 2 hours ill be sitting on the train to Gothenburg, going to Manchester for a week! For the first time in 4 years Rebecca and i will be together on our anniversary (26th) :O Straaaange!

Keep an eye out for the project pictures :)

Weekend has arrived yet again.

And im working. Boo.

Lying here on Lisas sofa at the moment, going to try sleep here in a few minutes!

Its ok working weekends though i suppose. I get 3 days or more off for working saturday and sunday, and on those days i only work 5 hours per day which is better than the usual 8 hours. So its ok :)

I brought Lisa and Robert a treat with me here today. Nom.

Vanilla cupcakes (the amazing buttery recipe i used last time too)

with strawberry cream cheese frosting.

Success!

Boxing day.

Twiggy and i murdered an innocent cardboard box last night.

No one loves boxes like he does.
